The Nishi tribe of Papum Pare District lacked an integrated programme for enhanced economic activity
750 acres of land in this district lay uncultivated
The tribe also lacked connectivity to the marked

The Solution:

WADI (Orchard) Programme of NABARD supported intercropping oranges with pineapples, sugarcane and banana
Programms for women’s employment were conducted for capacity building via Self Help Groups (SHGs)
For those who did not own sizeable plots of land, animal husbandry was promoted as a viable support

The Impact:

Brand Arunachal is a NABARD funded store where handloom and crafts items produced by the women’s SHGs of Nishi tribe are sold
Social and economic well-being of the Nishi tribe
