The short-term cooperative credit structure in the country consists of 31 State Cooperative Banks (SCBs), 366 District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and 1,06,384 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) as on 31 March 2006.

  The long term co-operative credit structure consisted of 20 State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (SCARDBs) with 696 Primary Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (PCARDBs) as on 31 March 2006.
   
  Of 20 SCARDBs, eight were in unitary structure with branches, 12 were federal/mixed in nature with affiliated PCARDBs.
   
  The number of branches of SCARDBs and PCARDBs as on 31 March 2006 were 865 and 1287 respectively.
 

Membership

 
  The Ground level membership of LT structure aggregated to 155.82 lakh of which, borrowing members at 127.81 lakh constituted around 82%.
