Department for Cooperative Revival and Reforms

Government of India (GoI) constituted a Task Force under the chairmanship of Prof. A Vaidyanathan in 2004 to suggest an implementable plan of action to revive the rural cooperative credit institutions. Based on the recommendations of the Task Force, the GoI  formulated a Revival Package for Short Term Cooperative Credit Structure (STCCS) and circulated the same to all State Governments in January 2006.

This Revival Package aims at improving the functioning of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS), Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) and State Cooperative Banks (SCBs) through legal and institutional reforms, training and capacity building accompanied with financial assistance.

The Task Force has also submitted its final recommendation to GoI for revival of long term Cooperative Credit structure and the same is under examination of GoI .

NABARD is the implementing agency for the Revival Package which is implemented through DCRR as the nodal department
