NABARD facilitates holistic rural development in Assam: Finance Minister Ajanta Neog

GUWAHATI: The 41st Foundation Day of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was celebrated in Guwahati on Tuesday.
State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog graced the occasion as chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Sanjeev Singha, Regional Director, RBI, Arvind Kumar Singh, CGM, SBI, and EE Karthak, Director, IIBM.
Naveen Dhingra, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Assam RO, spoke about the contributions made by NABARD to the state in the Agriculture and Rural Development sector through credit and developmental interventions. He assured that NABARD would be more than forthcoming in supporting the development of rural economy of the state
Sanjeev Singha, RD, RBI commended NABARD for having achieved many milestones in the four decades and hoped that NABARD shall continue to march on in future. Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Kumar Singh, CGM, SBI spoke about the possible synergy between NABARD and SBI for taking forward the developmental ecosystem in the state of Assam.
SHGs, FPOs, Joint liability groups ( JLGs), Tribal Development projects, Rural Marts, and bankers were felicitated on the occasion by the Finance Minister for extending the outreach of concept of development through credit . Addressing the NABARD family, bankers, stakeholders and community representatives, Ajanta Neog applauded the contributions made by NABARD in the State and congratulated all the awardees, especially the SHG members, for having taken up sustainable livelihood activities and becoming self-reliant.
On the occasion, exhibition stalls were put up by select artisans, rural artisans belonging to various districts to showcase their rich traditional livelihood, stated a press release.
