About Us

The Regional Training College (College), NABARD, Mangalore (an ISO 9001:2008 certified Institution), was established by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in 1984. The College caters to the specialised training needs and capacity building of the officials of the Rural Financial Institutions viz., Commercial Banks (CBs), Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and Cooperative Banks, particularly in the States of  Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The College organises in-house and on-location training programmes, besides customised programmes for banks either in-house or on-location, workshops/seminars and conducts studies of current interest, etc. During the last 25 years, more than 34,500 officers of various client organisations have been benefited through participation in the programmes conducted by the College.

The overall functioning of the College is guided on regular basis by the Academic Advisory Committee headed by Chief General Manager, Human Resource Development Department (HRDD), NABARD, Head Office and members having long and varied experience in banking, finance and academics from across the country. The activities of the College are also guided and reviewed by the Coordination Committee of Training Establishments (TEs) of NABARD, under the Chairmanship of Executive Director (HRDD), NABARD.

The College is headed by Principal holding the rank of General Manager, NABARD. The resource persons constitute a team of experienced Faculty Members from NABARD having exposure in different fields across the country and expertise in agriculture & rural development and banking.  Besides, experts/resource persons are drawn from various banks and academic institutions, to handle specific sessions in certain programmes. The College has also established video conferencing facility through which experts from various fields may interact with participants and share their experience.

The College follows a proactive approach to meet the training needs of its client institutions. Course contents of the training programmes and methodologies are continously reviewed and new programmes introduced every year keeping in view the emerging needs of the banking sector. For the year 2010-11, the College has planned to conduct 100 programmes, the details of which are available separately.

The College also considers requests from the client institutions for conduct of customised training programmes and implements them on mutually convenient and acceptable terms. 

Both priced and sponsored programmes are conducted by the College.  While priced programmes are fee-based, as per the rates prescribed from time to time, the cost of sponsored programmes is borne by NABARD for the benefit of client institutions.  The existing rates of  participation fee levied for priced programmes is as follows :-

The College also conducts on-location programmes at the request of client institutions, for which necessary infrastructure and participation level has to be provided by the institutions concerned.  As regards other costs, the same includes travel cost, stay arrangements for resource persons and professional fee/other charges, as fixed by the College from time to time.  The College welcoms suitable proposals towards this, which would be firmed up, based on mutual convenience and terms, as agreeable to both. 

The College has two AC lecture halls with modern training aids, residential and boarding facilities, all under the same roof and located at a central place in the city, near KSRTC.  The distance from Airport is 19 kms and from nearest Railway Station is about 4 kms.  The College has a library with more than 7000 books on various topics of interest and recreational facilities such as TV and indoor games.
