Maharashtra Governor flags-off NABARD-sponsored Mahalaxmi Saras Mela 2020

January 17, 2020, Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari inaugurated the Mahalaxmi SARAS Mela at MMRDA Ground in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex today. The inaugural function also saw the presence of Maharashtra Rural Development Minister Shri Hasan Mushrif.
The State Government, in association with NABARD and other stakeholders, has organised the 13-day exhibition-cum-sale fair to provide a platform for rural artisans and enterprises, SHGs to exhibit and sell their produces, which include handicraft and handloom, manufactured by them.
During the event, Shri C U Bhaskar, Chief General Manager, NABARD inaugurated the stalls sponsored by NABARD. The bank has set up 50 stalls this year, which would provide a platform for over 100 artisans and SHGs from as many as 26 states to market their products. Notably, NABARD has been supporting the state-level annual event for over a decade.
In addition to offering the rural artisans a prospect to showcase their creativity and creations, the annual occasion would give them exposure to the city markets and help redesign & sell their products in conformity with the latest trend.
The rural crafts fair will remain open till 29 January 2020.
