PMAY-G aims at providing a pucca house, with basic amenities, to all households and those households living in kutcha and dilapidated house, by 2022. The nodal Ministry for PMAY-G is Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India (GoI) & the scheme is being implemented by the State/UT Govts. Under phase I (2016-17 to 2018-19) of the scheme, one crore houses were to be constructed.
NABARD has been extending loan to National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA) towards part funding of Central share under the Scheme since 2017-18. As on 31 March 2019, the total sanction and release by NABARD stood at Rs.21,975 crore and Rs. 18008.23 crore respectively.
Following, further continuation of PMAY-G beyond March 2019, with additional target for construction of 1.95 crore houses under Phase II ( 2019-20 to 2021-22), an amount of Rs. 20,000 crore was sanctioned and Rs. 10,811 crore was released by NABARD to NRIDA under PMAY-G during 2019-20. The cumulative sanction and release as on 31 March 2020 stands at Rs. 41,975 crore and Rs. 28,819.23 crore respectively.
As against the target of 1.60 crore houses to be built in rural areas under PMAY-G [1 cr during Phase-I (2016-17 to 2018-19) and 0.60 cr during 2019-20) construction of one crore twenty six thousand houses is completed. (Source: MoRD, GoI website dated 15.04.2020, position as on 30.03.2020).
