Shri G R Chintala, Chairman, NABARD held a comprehensive meeting with Shri Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh during his visit to the state from 17th to 19th August 2020. He discussed several matters with him including post-COVID interventions of NABARD like provision of liquidity support of Rs.1730 Crore to banks, skill development programs sanctioned for migrant labour families, credit potential under Atma Nirbhar Bharat package, formation of FPOs, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund & Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies as Multi Service Centres, performance under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund & Long Term Irrigation Fund and support available under various other Infrastructure funds, among others.
Chairman also chaired a national level consultation meet on FPO at BIRD which was also graced by Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, GOI. He also addressed the faculty members of BIRD later in the day. Chairman also met the press and briefed about the latest developments.
During his meeting with senior officials of the cooperative banking sector in the state, Chairman discussed several issues including strengthening of weak banks, report on merger of DCCBs with UPCB, expanding share of co-operatives in GLC by utilizing various low cost resources with NABARD, PACS as MSC, computerization of PACS and technology adoption by cooperative banks. Chairman also launched Micro-ATMs in PACS in Rampur DCCB and handed over sanctions to SHGs by Etawah DCCB.
Chairman addressed the heads of major commercial banks in Uttar Pradesh and covered various aspects such as low per-capita GLC in UP, emerging lending opportunities under Atma Nirbhar Bharat package, AIF, Food processing sector, FPOs, SHGs, investment activities under reforming agricultural sector and advised banks to adopt micro-marketing approach considering the fact that agriculture sector has shown resilience and posted normal performance during slowdown and post-COVID scenario. He also released a booklet on Unit Costs in Uttar Pradesh. During the meeting, he handed over sanctions to over 200 SHGs linked by Aryavart RRB using E-Shakti platform, which had a demonstrative impact on other Commercial Banks and RRBs who attended.
Chairman’s State visit culminated with a meeting with Shri R K Tiwari, Chief Secretary, APC and ACS (Finance), ACS (Agri), ACS (Irrigation), PS (PWD), PS (AH & Dairy).
