NABARD celebrated 73rd Independence Day of India at its headquarters in Mumbai with much pomp and show. Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala, Chairman hoisted the National Flag in the presence of enthusiastic staff members and their families. The Chairman extended his good wishes to everyone on Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan.
Putting the concept of independence into present day perspective, the Chairman, in his speech, said the world is facing technological imperialism. "We as an organisation should become capable enough to be free from technological imperialism," he asserted. Moreover, the Chairman underlined the importance of balanced regional development, women empowerment and employment opportunities for rural people in fulfilling the dream of independence in true sense. He urged NABARDIANS to rededicate themselves to this cause.
On this occasion, the Chairman unveiled the Benevolent Scheme, an initiative by All India National Bank Officers' Association (AINBOA). The scheme intends to provide financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the family members of employees who die in service.
The event also saw a patriotic song performance by the staff members.
