Rasabali of Kendrapara

Kendrapara Rasabali is a delicious dessert that has been around for over 200 years. Given that it is presented as a "bhoj" to the ruling deity of the Sree Baladevjew temple in Ichapur, which is located outside of Kendrapada town, it is undoubtedly food of the gods. It is one of the 56 different kinds of offerings, known as Chhapan Bhog, that Lord Jagannath and his siblings receive from Puri Srimandir.

The produce

Rasabali is a fried, flattened brown cheese cake drenched in sweetened, thickened milk. Its main ingredients are ghee, milk, sugar, and chhena (cottage cheese). To make a dough, the chhena is combined with sugar and ghee, rolled into thin discs, and deep-fried. After that, a thickened and sweetened milk syrup is soaked into the fried discs.
