The Challenge:

• Providing sustainable economic opportunities for women in a very harsh environment

The Solution:

• NABARD provided financial assistance of Rs 7 Lakh to Khamir
• The project taught women members to make handicrafts and utility items from used plastic bottles
• Awareness programmes held in schools on the damaging effects of plastic

The Impact:

• Regular source of employment for women
• Increase in community engagement
• Trade facilitation and artisan services at the village level
