THE SOLUTION

• NABARD joined hands with the Gramin Yuvati Vikas Mandal to motivate farmers to sow wheat seeds in the paddy residue without burning the stubble
• Encouraging the use of Happy Seeder machine for composite cutting-cum-drillingcum- sowing

THE IMPACT

• Higher soil moisture and soil quality
• Natural method of weed control
• Less seed requirement vis-a-vis traditional method
• Technology adopted by around 500 farmers who are now master trainers
