THE CHALLENGE

• Bringing tribal families into the mainstream by improving their standard of living through creation of income-generating assets

THE SOLUTION

• In the first five year project, NABARD sanctioned a grant of ? 247 lakh in 14 hamlets of Agali Gram Panchayat covering 557 tribal families
• Community drinking water sources were rejuvenated and horticultural crops such as areca nut, cashew, nutmeg and amla were cultivated. Goats and cows were provided to farmers/li>
• In the second five year project, NABARD sanctioned a grant of ? 842 lakh covering 1,800 acres and 2,000 families

THE IMPACT

• Tribal families which were earlier wage earners, now till their own land
• Income supplemented through intercropping
• Medical camps, health and hygiene programmes, awareness programmes on parenting and deaddiction conducted
• Improvement in the quality of life of tribals
