Shobha felt that some members can contribute larger sums per month, even up to Rs.700.
However, she felt that unequal savings will cause disparity between members particularly
when dividing interest income and hence felt that equality in the group is more important
than only making money.
Conclusions
Due to increased savings, the group has managed the following:
Created a discipline of saving which has led them to loan money.
The understanding of increased savings by which they could give higher credit to
members
Division of interest income which was useful to all members
Replacement of local money lenders who were like loan shark in the village
